Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) is a brain network disorder that can encompass a diverse range of neurological symptoms including limb weakness, paralysis, seizures, walking difficulties, spasms, twitching, sensory issues and more. Anyone of any age can receive the diagnosis. For many symptoms are severe and disabling, and life changing for all.

For Good Audio we see FND as a case study for how we must compassionately consider the accessibility of spaces in the sonic realm. Even folks without neurological impairments can struggle in certain sonic environments (trains, aeroplanes, crowds, shopping centres, hospitals etc) so we aim to be careful to also include the experience of those with sensory disorders in our environmental sound design.
